Akashwani Sydney is an activity of Marathi Association Sydney Inc. While listening to other Indian language program on FM radio in Sydney, Dr Purushottam Sawarikar first thought about having Marathi Radio. Soon the concept was discussed in Marathi community and the first program was broadcast in 1997. In the early days the programs were prepared at volunteer’s homes on the audio cassettes and then broadcast from the studio.
This required immense coordination and precision. Within a year, decision was taken to broadcast all programs live from the studio. Within a year, decision was taken to broadcast all programs live from the studio. These Marathi programs are broadcast every week on Sunday between 11am to 12pm, and Tuesday between 8pm to 9pm. Since the inception, there have been a variety of programs broadcast which includes the topics like Kavya, Katha, Nabho-Natya, Musical programs, Fund-raising initiatives, Social awareness, Interview of legends from Australia and eminent guests visiting us from India, talk back shows and many others. It is a great pleasure to see the mix of young, mid-aged and senior people that host these programs which results in presenting a wonderful blend of topics.
Presentation and Technical assistance are the two main responsibilities behind any program, and they have been most ably supported by the volunteers over the years. Despite no professional training in broadcasting or presentation, these people have never compromised over the quality and the contents of programs. There is a special contribution by Dr Ujjwala Barve from Pune, who presented the news from India for more than 20 years starting from time when the internet did not exist. Recently Mr. Mandar Kulkarni has taken up this responsibility. This high-quality news bulletin is one of the main attractions for Sunday’s program. With this, there is also a local diary presented by volunteers which includes information on local events and community programs. Similarly, Tuesday’s program includes the special segment of Indian and local news prepared locally by dedicated volunteers.
The true identity of “Akashwani Sydney” is defined through its title song and the logo. The title song has been written by Sadanand Kelkar, music composed by Kiran Pradhan and rendition is by Kumud Powar. The “Akashwani Sydney” logo has been designed by Pradnya Kanitkar.
No project can be executed without a sustainable financial backing. Several Marathi families have come together to support “Akashwani Sydney” under the “Ashraydate” scheme and have been our main financial pillar. Similarly, the local Marathi businesses have extended their support through the commercial sponsorship. Without such a noble support from the community, “Akashwani Sydney” will not be able to broadcast any program.
The “Akashwani Sydney” Mobile app has also been great for our audiences to listen to programs anytime and anywhere. This also has put an onus on to you to provide us with your feedback on the programs. आकाशवाणी सिडनी विषयी थोडेसे :
आकाशवाणी सिडनी च्या ऍप वर आपले स्वागत करत आहोत. आज ह्या ऍप मुळे एका क्लीक द्वारे आपण आमच्या बरोबर राहणार आहात. परंतु या अगोदर “आकाशवाणी सिडनी” विषयी थोडेसे जाणून घेऊया. “आकाशवाणी सिडनी” सिडनी मराठी मंडळाची एक मुख्य वाहिनी आहे. डॉक्टर पुरुषोत्तम सावरीकर यांनी काही अन्य भारतीय भाषेमधील FM रेडिओ वर कार्यक्रम ऐकले आणि त्यांना मराठी भाषेमध्ये हे कार्यक्रम का असू नयेत असा प्रश्न पडला. मराठी लोकांमध्ये चर्चा सुरु झाली आणि निर्णय होऊन १९९७ पासून रेडिओ प्रसारण सुरु झाले. सुरवातीस घरोघरी कॅसेट वर कार्यक्रम तयार करून स्टुडिओ मधून प्रसारित केले जात असत. परंतु यात वेळ आणि गुणवत्ता याचा ताळमेळ घालणे कठीण होऊ लागले. वर्षभरातच स्टुडिओ मधून लाईव्ह कार्यक्रम सुरु झाले.
आठवड्यातून दर रविवारी सिडनी वेळेनुसार सकाळी ११ वाजता आणि दर मंगळवारी रात्री ८ वाजता एक तासाचा कार्यक्रम सादर होत असतो. गेल्या अनेक वर्षात काव्य, कथा, नभोनाट्य, संगीत, स्थानिक आणि भारतातून आलेल्या अनेक मान्यवरांच्या मुलाखती, टॉक-बॅक अशा तऱ्हेचे वैविध्य पूर्ण कार्यक्रम सादर झाले आहेत आणि पुढे होत राहतील. आज आकाशवाणी सिडनी च्या कार्यक्रमात आणि वयस्थापनेमध्ये तरुण पिढी चा मोठा सहभाग आहे. कार्यकारी समिती मध्ये तरुण, मध्यवयीन आणि निवृत्तीच्या जवळ आलेली मंडळी अशा सर्वांचा सहभाग आहे.
सादरीकरण आणि कर्यक्रमासाठी तांत्रिक साहाय्य अशा दोन महत्वाच्या जबाबदाऱ्या अतिशय समर्थपणे सांभाळत १९९७ पासून सर्व रविवार आणि मंगळवार कार्यक्रम सादर झाले. कोणीही या क्षेत्रात प्रक्षिक्षण घेतलेले नाही किंवा तसा अनुभव हि नाही परंतु कार्यक्रमांमधील विविधता आणि गुणवत्ता यावर मात्र कोणीही तडजोड केली नाही. या कार्यक्रमामध्ये विशेष योगदान पुण्यातील डॉक्टर सौ उज्ज्वला बर्वे यांचे ज्यांनी वीस वर्षाहून अधिक काळ दर रविवारी आकाशवाणी सिडनी साठी साधारण ८ ते १० मिनिटाचे वार्तापत्र सादर केले आणि आता सध्या श्री मंदार कुलकर्णी यांनी हि जबादारी घेतली आहे. उत्तम दर्जाचे वार्तापत्र हे रविवारच्या कार्यक्रमातील महत्वाचे आकर्षण आहे. याचबरोबर सिडनी मधील स्थानिक कार्यक्रमाची माहिती आणि कम्युनिटी कार्यक्रमाची माहिती सिडनी डायरी या सदरात सांगितली जाते आणि दर मंगळवारी वृत्तविशेष सादर केले जाते.
खरतर “आकाशवाणी सिडनी”ची त्वरित ओळख त्याचा शीर्षक गीत आणि लोगो मध्येच दडली आहे. याचे बोल लिहिले आहेत श्री सदानंद केळकर यांनी, स्वर आहे कुमुद पोवार यांचा आणि या गीतास संगीताने सजविले आहे श्री किरण प्रधान यांनी. “आकाशवाणी सिडनी ” चे प्रतीक चिन्ह (लोगो) सौ प्रज्ञा कानिटकर यांनी तयार केले आहे.
कोणत्याही प्रोजेक्ट साठी आर्थिक पाठबळ आणि आर्थिक स्थिरता हे आवश्यक असतेच. अनेक मराठी कुटुंबांनी आश्रयदाते या योजनेखाली हि धुरा सांभाळली आहे. तसेच आमचे जाहिरातदार यांनी आकाशवाणी सिडनी ला कायम साथ दिली आहे. आश्रयदाते आणि जाहिरातदार यांच्या सहकार्याशिवाय आम्ही आपणा पर्यंत पोचू शकलो नसतो.
